Hi all, I recall quite a lot of discussion re the fitting of a 3" exhaust on a 1999 4.2 Patrol, Is there any one who has had this fitted and has it made much difference to the vehicle? Hubby was thinking of putting one on ours as it is a bit of a slug.
I tried to do a search for the information but it seems the search function on here is not up and running yet or there is something wrong with my computer, one of the two. LOL

Thanks

Deanna

I fitted a 3inch exhaust to my 02 GU Patrol TD4.2T and can say it's well worth the money not only does it wake the old slug up the turbo spools up quicker it's more economical and the engine runs a lot cooler. Probably one of the best mods i have done to wake the old girl up. I also only run one large muffler instead of the couple that are usually under there and noise above standard is barely noticable (it doesn't drone either)

Thanks for that Tony R, sounds like just what is required. I see you are from WA, where abouts did you get yours done if you don't mind me asking.

Cheers

I had mine done up here in Karratha but any reputable exhaust shop should be able to help you out. If your Patrol has a turbo i do recommend a 3inch dump pipe to go with the exhaust with the single muffler and if it's not a turbo engine just go the 3inch exhaust with the single muffler you won't regret it. I was put off when they told me to run only one muffler as i don't like loud cars but i was pleasantly suprised when i heard it and as i said above it doesn't have that droney sound and it really brings the engine to life.

Thanks so much for that Dave, I have never been able to register on the Patrol website, has knocked me back a few times, it never seems to want to accept me but will try again.

Cheers

Member - Toby R (WA) where in Karratha?

As I'm working there at the moment and have been looking at this.

Also did you get it re-tuned and if so where in Karratha?

Cheers

Deanne

First thing I did when I got the Poootrol, almost 3 years back.
When you do this first then have the Pump and Injectors serviced, it will make a difference.

I Have an Intercooler, but too slack to fit it

Should put on a bigger turbo, but too lousey

I will get there, in the next couple of years, but it all takes $$$$$$$

Cheers

Also
Do not fit the 3" exhaust, without fitting the bigger dump pipe

Thanks so much for that info Bucky, will double check to make sure that they are including the 3" dump pipe, I did ask at the time but I'm sure that being a woman he just said "yes" thinking I don't know what I'm talking about (probably knowing, lol), he doesn't know the power of EO does he????????

Cheers
