Site problems?

I've noticed that the site seems to be really, really slow for me tonight. Don't know if anyone else has noticed it but it's painful.

I also just tried to 'watch' a thread and was told that I needed to be a member, or an advertiser, which is interesting as I am a member.

Thought I should pass it on.

Oh yeah, connecting through a USB mobile broadband modem using Telstra NextG 7.2Mbps stuff - and though Telstra is completely useless with this I can load up other sites fairly quick so feel that it's a problem with EO.

Cheers,
Simon

Simon,
It was me just installing a few updates to the forum view and default pages for search updates I had just finished. All done now so you should be right. I am leaving the office.

Hi Simon. The speed has been slowing down and then speeding up for the last couple of days, since the upgrade was made so it may be teething problems. Your user name does not say "member" so that may be a reason for your watch problem. Cheers,Bob

Hey Bob,

Yeah, you can edit out the bit that say's Member before your name.. :-)
So you could edit it to just say Toyocrusa.
If you can see "Member: My Profile etc" down the bottom of the post then it's a member account.

Glad it wasn't only me, figured it must've been further reaching but considering the problems I've been having with Telstra I wanted to be 100% sure too.

Cheers,
Simon

Cheers mate,

Should I log off and back on or anything?
Just tried to edit my profile to update some stuff and got the following error and thought I should post it asap.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

Hi Simon

Pretty slow in Brissy as well .Seems to go all right for short bit but then takes ages to load anything. I now log off and come back in a few minutes if I'm still interested. Still can't open members gallery but will have to see how the upgrade goes.

Cheers Teza

Same here near Canberra - super fast when its working but fairly frequently the site stops loading. Comes back after a few minutes. Has been like that for days now, since before the change to the new servers really.

Also today I have found that I can't edit the captions in blogs. It will let you do so and appears to accept the change but when you go to preview the old version is what shows. Seems to be the same problem with my avatar - the photo has been changed but not able to change the caption. I have noticed a few other members have avatars with this problem.

Cheers,

Val

Incredibly slow for me too Simon. It has been slow for a couple of years to the extent that although i try and take a look daily, opening one or two threads at a sitting is all my patience can bear. Strangely after David did something a couple of weeks ago, it came good for one evening only.

Also the button for Reply at the bottom of the thread has gone - having to scroll up again (and w - a - i - t to get there) to the Reply button is tedious.

It would only be yourself as I have not removed it and it is the button I use all the time. Can you send me a screen capture of the page so I can see it?

Hi David - Believe it or not, the button is back! It was not there on each of the threads i replied to yesterday and i had to scroll up to use the one after the first posting. It is on this thread today. I won't look back at the threads i replied on yesterday, becasue it just took my computer 10 minutes to open this reply.

P A I N F U L L Y S L O W at times!!!!

David posted that he was finished maintenance a couple of hours ago....... so what's with it? I really am losing patience.

Just renewed my Membership but am wondering about what value I am getting for my money!!!

I might add that when I was doing maintenance in my own business I did it 'out of hours' so as to not inconvenience the customers. Sure it meant working in the Wee Small Hours but so be it.

Cheers

Allan,

Agree about after hours maint and this is what is generally done however since the upgrades have occurred I have worked till past 2 am each morning and when I start each day at 5 am I am running out of sleep. There is one process that is causing a problem still and I wish I could find it - I have read and re-read over 200,000 lines of code and it is not jumping out at me. I will get it solved but the general performance is exceptional and significantly better than before so we are moving forward. The other problem about try to control updates overnight is that I only would have one test window in each 24 hour period to see if the error has been found and this would make the diagnosis go on forever as it only happens when something is run on the system during peak usage.

Anyway we are doing our best, please bear with it.

Site problems alright. Only 9 threads for the day, just 18 replies to those and even less followups! It wasn't so long ago you could get 50 responses to a single topic. It's so frustrating typing out a reply only to have the computer freeze & lose it all. It happens so often now I save the reply before hitting the submit button.
