Hi, could anyone out there suggest a reasonably priced caravan park within ten kms of Perth CBD.
Thanks Mike and Helen

Caversham is on the north eastern outskirts. Woodman Point is on the south western fringe.

Gidday

10Km makes it hard ... Perth isn't a big country town any more.

Kenlorn Caravan Park in Queen's Park in the eastern suburbs would be the only one that meets your 10km criteria. Can't comment on its price or suitability otherwise. Most of the others are a far way further out.

Cheers

Seconding Karrinyup Waters, which is close to public transport (rail and bus) for easy city access with no parking problems. My daughter chose it for holidays with her young children and was very happy with the park and location, and the ease of using public transport to visit the city as well as other tourist attractions around the metro area.

I agree Karringup is an ideal spot. Bus at the gate direct to shopping centres and train station.

The nearest one I know of is Central Caravan Park near the river in the Ascot area.

No idea of prices or conditions, but google is your friend.
It's the closest to CBD, the rail system and the Burswood casino are nearby too.

Disco.

I stayed at this park on the first couple of nights of my recent trip. The main attraction for me was that it was only 1 or 2 km from the place where I rented the RV; I didn't want to drive too far on the wrong side of the road after a 24+ hour journey from the USA. I booked online about three weeks in advance and paid $42/night for a powered site with just myself.

You can walk one block to the main road and catch a bus to go downtown - but I recommend checking the Transperth website online (or calling their helpline) to know which bus you need. The folks at the caravan park office were helpful with a printed bus schedule but when I got to the bus stop, the number on the bus didn't match the schedule. I let the first bus go by, thinking the "right" bus would be along soon, but it didn't come; half an hour later I got on the next iteration of the "wrong" bus and it took me right downtown, like I wanted.

There is a BP station on the main road (right next to the bus stop) for snacks, etc; I'm not sure how close other amenities like grocery stores are, as I ended up shopping in a different part of Perth. From what I remember from looking at maps online, the closest Woolworths, Kmart, etc are in Redcliffe, 3 or 4 km away. You can walk out the back of the caravan park and southwest (towards downtown) a couple of blocks and get onto the walking/bicycle path that goes along the Swan River.

It seemed reasonably OK at the time, considering it was the first park in Australia I'd ever stayed in. On the rest of the trip I had some better and some not as good; the $42 might be a little optimistic but then again it *is* right in Perth.

I hope this helps!

Yep - the Big 4 on Benara Road, Caversham may be a whisker over the Ten Km but smack bang in the best part of Perth - the Swan Valley - great access to anywhere else you need to go - City or Coast or t'other side of the river (casino country) - major routes in all directions - just wait till the rush hour is over though... Yes - Caversham was the one we stayed in - easy to find, plenty of room, lovely area - we drove to a railway station, left car and trained it into the city - easier than driving around not knowing where you are going. Enjoy Perth.

This would be my choice too. Easy access to Roe and Tonkin Highways, big shopping centres eg Belmont, Carousel not too far distant. And head up the Hills to Kalamunda for yummy cafes.
