Love the chain around the towball.....

It looks like an American ad as all the vehicles are left hand drive.

Big expectation from a 2 litre donk...

Its a German ad, which considering their anal health and safety laws makes the chain round the towball even worse!

The issue is snatching from a tow ball - there is nothing wrong with using the tow ball for other purposes such as towing or pulling where snatching is not involved - after all most heavy vehicles can tow up to 3.5t on them.

Kelvo,

While the ad may have been made for viewing in Germany, I can guarantee that the location is not Germany. In a later clip the driver is not wearing a seatbelt either, compulsory in Germany, not all US states.

As garrycol said the tow ball can be used for many things, my preference would be that the chain to be attached to something where it is unlikely to slip off.

Still not a bad looking vehicle.

Tony V,

OK, what I should have said was its a German company using a German registered vehicle (Note the number plate 'D' for Deutschland for the EU country marker on the lefthand side)

Garrycol,

Again I should have been more specific, 'snatching using a towball' as opposed to 'chain around the towball'. Even when you would/should know that I was talking about what had happened in the clip.

Love to both of you,

Kelvo

Love you to Kelvo....

You got good eyesight to see the "D" on the numberplate, you can see the rego disc in red on the plate and AFAIK Gemany is the only EU country to use that. Good catch, well done.

I rechecked the video and you are correct and the video is most likely made in Spain, home of the Spaghetti Western I managed to capture a Stop sign which said PARE is STOP or HALT in Spanish and Portuguese.

It look like they do try to givethe impression of outback Australia as in some places they drive on the left side of the road.

My Girl is thinking about purchasing a few for her business.

They run Aboriginal surveys for Mining firms but the country they transverse is basically virgin scrub! So in my mind a solid axle LV would more suitable. From experience they are the best.

I have said to her that you need at least a more solid 4x4 (eg. Cruiser etc...) cause they will handle the virgin scrub with greater ease. And spare parts are readily available in the Pilbara for Toyota or Nissan. Also the VW thing so far to my knowledge has no bull bar yet!!

But that 'towball' stunt on the video made me laugh!

Amateurs....

HI,
When pulling the tree with the chain the tree topples from the top and the chain is loosely fitted around the base

Its a good looking vehicle, certainly doesnt LOOK out of place at all.
I reckon if the Great Wall, Sangyong or Tata had similar styling they would be going further.

I have driven one and they are pretty tough underneath, the bash plates are the best I've seen on a standard vehicle and the chassis is the biggest in class
The price is a lot more than I was lead to believe and the motor had a little to much lag than I would have thought of a twin turbo diesel. Other than that it a bloody nice vehicle, just have to wait to long to see where all the VW service centres will be, so I'll be buying a trusty D.Max unless I win Lotto that is hahahahaha and have one of each.

Yes they do look the goods and have German VW reliability.

But still not good enough for bush bashing!

If you want I can give the line/country that they (the survey crew) will drive through.

I'm still debating with my Girl and her business partner about the VW.

cheers
