Hi All
I have decided to take 2 weeks of in July, working for myself have never managed that long before.
I have written out a little wish list of
places to see and the route to take but it covers over 2500kms. As we normally go for short breaks this seems like a lot of driving for a break.
What distances would you normally cover for a circular tour?
Richard

Richard,
If you could give us an idea where your wish list will take you, I'm sure someone will give you an idea if you have enough time or even come up with other
places closer by.
Cheers Dave..

Sorry Dave
I hope to go up to
Broken Hill from
Anglesea, across to the Flinders, down to Mt Gambier and back
home. We have 2 quite
well trained children, who are good in the car, but we have never gone inland before. Not sure what our expectations are but the change of scenery excites us. Wifey would rather have a whole day in the car rather than split the journey into several shorter journeys
Hope the more info can help you to help me!
Thanks
Richard

Hi,
Anglesea to
Mildura,
Mildura to
Broken Hill stay a few days. BH to the Flinders stay about 8 days at various
places all relatively close to each other in my opinion. Three days
home via Mt Gambier. I reckon easy as and sounds very good. If you are in a 4wd then do Sky Trek. Mike

Hi Richard
It seems very reasonable at around 180 kms per day average, but depends on roads and how much sight seeing you will be doing. This is in line with the maximum average distances we have covered on big trips allowing for sightseeing and r&r days (trips were between 120 and 175 kms average). We probably covered more on short holidays. You may get more than fourteen days if you include a weekend at each end.
When on shorter holidays, my plan has had a few key
places to aim for, and drive and tour for around half the time, then plot a different route
home.
Touring is very different to going to spend a week or two sitting by a lake and fishing.

Thanks Motherhen
In the past we have gone to a place and stayed there for a week and come
home again. Very nice, but with such a big country (we emigrated 5 years ago) and no knowledge of the history we have decided to go and have a look for ourselves. We might get to
Broken Hill find how beautiful it is and decide not to go any further. Who knows? the last time we went on a "tour" it took 3 days to get to
Lakes Entrance!!
