Off Road Caravans

We are looking at buying a new off road caravan and have ended up with 2 x alternatives: Sunland Patriot or Lotus Trackvan Extreme (both 21').
Can anyone give us their opinions on either.
Cheers

After months of research we to ended up with 2. Kedron or Bushtracker were our top two picks. We settled for Kedron. Sorry can't help with your picks. Have you looked into these off road vans?? Very well built and service is excellent. Watch the Gall Boys DVD's from Kedron caravans to get some inspiration!

A good place to start looking is in the Trader section right here on ExplorOz, I have just listed my own Offroad van here. I sold my Landcruiser in the Trader on this site too and it works well.

Is that Mike from Oztours? If so we live in Cairns - do your folks live here too?
If so any chance of seeing their caravan?

We took delivery of a Sunland Patriot last October. Since then we have travelled about 8,000 kms. We have been very pleased with the van. It is comfortable, well built and tows well. The finish and build are very good. The only extras we had fitted were a second water tank and a larger solar panel (now standard I think) and a 4 burner gas stove. We have a cupboard instead of a washing machine so have very good storage. The bathroom is excellent.

We have not yet gone really Outback and Off road (that will be after Easter) but we have taken the van over some rough, dusty and steep dirt roads and it has performed very well. This summer we have also struck a lot of rain and mud. No water or dust has got into the van.

Post sales service has been excellent.

We feel we made a good choice that suits us well. We are confident we can take it anywhere we want to go. Lynne

You could try posting this query on Caravaners Forum where there are several people with experience of those two brands. There has also been a recent thread on ther Off Road vans. Good luck! Lynne

Have you been to Phoenix?
We have taken ours to many out of the way places and are very happy.
Gibb river road etc.
For the past few years our brother in-law has been tripping with us and has had an other make of off road van, but had dramas. So his Phoenix will be ready in a couple of weeks. We have owned 2 Phoenix vans and are more than happy to say make a time with Greg and go have a look at how they are built. Phoenix is a custom built van from Queensland.
Cheers
Happy Vanning
