Hi guy's I'm always moving around or being wary about where I store me towing mirrors. There a pain in the Ar... in the back of the Paj, or stored in the long narrow locker in me Rapid (always have to get at something in there)and I can't even find a safe neat spot in me garage for them. Well at the moment there in the boot of the no longer working Camry but when I get rid of that!!!!!

So how do you guy's keep them safe on the road and at home.

Cheers.

Hi Roughas,

I put mine under the bed in the caravan when van is stored. May not apply in your situation.

When on the road towing they don't come off till I have finished the trip.

Cheers, Bruce.

Thanks Bruce I tend to bush bash a bit So I take me mirrors off. Hmm I also thougth it was against the law to drive around with out the trailer and the mirrors still on. Unfortunately I have the pull out beds so can't get under the matress.

Cheers.

In WA it is an offence to drive around with your mirrors when not towing. We always put ours in the boot of the caravan when we are not towing.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

I don't even know if it is legal in NSW so I suppose I had better extractus digitus
and find out.

That's the ridiculous state of affairs in this country when 22 million people have, the population of one major international city, have so many different rules and so many tiers of government which leads to over regulation.

If someone gets close enough to your car to be whacked by a towing mirror while you are driving down the road, I guess it is too late for them anyway, they are going to get hurt. whether or not they hit your mirror.

Cheers all and thanks for the info.

Bruce.

Unfortunately we don't have much in the way of cushions when the van is folded up kids stuff and folding tables chairs are already stored there.

Cheers.

Gday...

I am travelling full time and have the 'truck' mirrors.

When we stop for more than overnight I remove them from the vehicle and just put them under the van just behind the wheels.

Been travelling for about 15 months now and they have not been stolen (yet) .... and now that I have recorded that good luck, some whacker will probably knock em off next time I stop. ;-}

Cheers

Hi John,

That is Murpheys law. Strongest rule in the book.

Having a farm, things often go wrong, especially with machinery. As I keep telling my neighbour/mate, Murphey is lurking behind any one of those trees out there and he is waiting for you to turn your back or drop your guard, then he pounces.

Only antidote is care and caution. and even that is not always effective.

So you are probably right John. watch out for the whackers.

Cheers, Bruce.
