Lotus Caravans

We are thinking of buying a Caravan and would appreciate views on the Lotus on road range.

G/Day
Google lotuscaravanownersgroup, the forum has just recently started, there are various types of Lotus Caravans in the group, we have a Lotus Trooper Off Road Van and we are more than happy with it, one good reason we purchased it is the dealership looks after you if you have any problems, they back their warranty.

Cheers

I do not have a Lotus myself but do have a mate with one hear in Adelaide.
Its duel axle and all the bells and whistles, the short version is sorry he bought it.
Has had several problems with no after sale service, not even manufacturer is interested.
I was involved with the buying and pre delivery of this van so not just hear say.
lots to finish your self as attention to detail left quite a lot to the imagination.
My mate has been in contact with others and same story.

DAZA, I have made a comment on my experience with the lotus caravan as I see it. Just like others have done, you have also done the same.
As you do not know me, the van or the problems he has uncounted I do not feel your comment was called for.
I am glad your dealings with lotus has been good for you but if you think others have had no issues with their vans then you must live with your head in the clouds.

Hi Kenmar,
We have a 09 Lotus Sprint . No probs with the van , all components are generic to other major manufacturers --- Thetford , Dometic , Lemair , Winegard , C Tek , G & S Chassis etc . Our van has a great finish inside & out !
We chose the on road Lotus & bought a camper trailer to do beach runs & other off road work which still worked out cheaper than an off road van.

Cheers Bruce

Hi Kenmar,

We had a Lotus sprint and generally were happy with it. We did however some problems:

Shower door always comes open when travelling.

Brakes were very badly wired up. Not soldered or heat shrunk but just twisted together and then a cap screwed over the top. The first week I rewired up the brakes as they were coroding already.

The water tanks (2 X 90 litre) were not tilted to one end. As a result we could not get all the water from the tanks.

Not certain where you are but Les the dealer at the Tweed Heads we found to be great.
