In the process of getting a new DMAX - The dealer has said expect the market to dry up, as no more DMAX's will be produced from May to August.

Apparently even though they are assembled in Thailand, most of the parts come from Japan and the Factories were hit hard.

Apparently this will also effect other makes as well.

Cheers Tony

Can not see how the price going up will speed up supply. Just another excuse for a cash grab.

There is a rumour going around that some cars that were waiting for shipment near the Fukushima reactors will have an unusual feature that will make them easy to find at night. They glow in the dark

The Toyota factory is located several hundred kilometers south of the earthquake area and was not affected by the quake or aftermath. Sounds like an excuse from the dealers to squeeze a bit more out of us.

Hi Tony
Yep, told the same by dealer , as I'm about to lay down deposit on a new d/cab one here too!!!
Large Brisbane dealer said same - their last order was for 16 units, 6 turned up.
They are starting to have supply probs now.
Reckon if people are waiting for end of june specials this year, they might find there is stuff all choice....
Toyota & Honda are in for pain too - nearly all jap manufacture plants for vehicle components are on the seaboard of japan that got wiped out.
Not all models are affected, guess we'll soon find out exactly which ones are.

Like you say, where they are built is not the issue, it's where the parts are that is

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mary - Looks like I may not be getting a new DMAX With every accessory known to man after all :-)

I was trying to get it delivered with a 500kg GVM Upgrade as well - boy did I give them a list of accessories to fit prior to delivery - Looks like ARB will miss out as well.

I wanted a July delivery - Heading back to the Simpson late August this year - may have to be in the Old Rig :-)

It's not just Japanese vehicles.

Even US made vevicles from GM and Ford, like the F250 are having problems.

Oops, wrong button

It's not just Japanese vehicles.

Even US made vevicles from GM and Ford, like the F250 are having delivery problems.

This article says that you can't order a F250 in metallic black as a result. And red and silver are problems.

Apparently the only place in the world that makes the stuff for metalic paints is in the Tsunami affected area of Japan.

That $200 metalic option looks like it will go up to $1000 or more.....

Ouch.

Similar story here......

If the factory that assembles/makes a particular type of vehicle was not affected by the tsunamis and earthquakes, then it could be that the factories that produce components were affected. E.g. one dealer informed me that the Fukushima plant that produces engine sensors no longer exists. This will mean a delay in certain components for vehicles from Japan, Europe, Australia and the US.

Seems to be the train of thought amongst dealers that supplies will be short, prices will remain up (less haggling possible) and used car prices stay up.
