Hi,
I have just bought myself a second hand viscount ultralite. It's in really good condition and am really happy with my purchase. I have a problem with the pop top sticking when i try to lift it. My husband can manage, but i need to be able to do it myself as he is not in to caravanning. It seems that the lifters on the sides have somehow bent. Its strange because it was fine. Has anyone seen something similar. My husband had the van jacked up to replace tyres. Wondering if this could have somehow put things out of alignment (top was down though). Any suggestions on how to fix.

The door needs to be open when lifting a poptop.
Could that be your problem

Dead right Pete. I've got a Coromal pop top, and I'm a fairly big bloke, but can't lift the lid without the door or windows being open.

From one Viscount owner to another, make sure that all the hinges, rollers and slides in the lifting mechanisms are
well lubricated. This makes a big difference to the amount of effort needed to pop the top. Don't forget to undo all the hold-down latches and keep the door open too.
For what it's worth I use either WD40 or a silicon spray designed for sliding doors. Both work
well but I tend to use WD40 more often (only because it's easier to find in the caravan tool box).
Hope this helps.

I have the door open although this was more luck than anything. I didn't realise that you had too. Although it is logical now i think of it.
I will try some extra lubrication on the weekend. The supports seem to be catching though.
