Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend any camping areas away from the crowds. We live in the Hawkesbury region and back onto the
Blue Mountains National Park. We have a camper trailer and dont require any facilities so can get off the beaten track. I have made enquiries through National Parks and continue to be disappointed as they send us to look at impossible areas such as roads which have been turned into walking tracks. Overgrown camping areas etc. We are looking for something quieter for the
Easter break if possible and from then on. Can anyone recommend anything please? I have tried everything. We are responsible campers and respect our great country. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hi Shazza,
How far do you want to travel?
There are a lot of camping spots along the rivers in central west NSW, but its 1st in best dressed.
Over
Easter there will be heaps of campers out there but if you get in 1st you'll get the good spots and its customary to not
camp right next to another, camping a couple of hundred metres away should be ok.
Let me know if you'd like a mud map emailed to you.
Cheers Wilko

Hi Wilko,
A couple of hundred metres would be perfect. We have been to the central west and love it. A mud map would be great Wilko. Thanks a lot.

lol you lot. Wilko asked how far you wanted to travel and you said a couple of hundred metres, like 200m you want to travel, like two blocks?
Or did you mean a couple hundred kilometres!
Just me asking

Hi Bonz,
I believe the couple hundred meters was how close to other campers.
Cheers Wilko

Forget about majority of NSW NP for camping with a CT, they do their best to discourage you. In some more difficult access areas they ban trailers due to past accidents.
NSW State Forests are always much happier to accomodate self sufficent vehicle based campers. Talk to the regional State Forests offices in the areas you would consider going to.
I'm not certain about the Blue Mountains areas but 25 years ago there were plenty on the NSW south coast and there are some magnificent areas at the back of the mid north coast.

Good advice Mark. We have noticed that the State Forests are more accommodating on our travels. I will follow up. Thanks.

Hi Sharron,
NSW Forests have an excellent set of paper maps covering most
State Forest areas. They show roads tracks, camping areas etc. Should be able to get them from any Forestry office or you could try online.
We have used a SF area in the central west a few times and it even has a welcoming sign on the
gate - how good is that?
Cheers,
Val.

Hi Sharron, Have you tried the NSW National Park site, you can enter as much or as little info as you want regarding what facilities you want in your camp site, as well as browse the state in sections depending on what area you want to visit.
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NationalParks/parkSearchAtoZ.aspxHi
only other ideas are : Nangar NP ( nice at the moment), Kanangra Boyd NP (most likley busy over easter) , or around
Hill End is said to be a good place (historic)
