Not exactly sure what your after Keith , but these are good , we have Degen.
However they are battery radios , and come with an adaptor for mains use.
If would be possible to get other adaptors and hence use of 12v.
I cheat and just use re-chargeable batteries.

I don't know about 12v/24v but if you don't mind a normal battery one I would suggest the SANGEAN 505 (ATS505)
That's what I've been using and it picks channels brilliantly.
Not only AM/FM but also SW/LW and has single side band.
Once around Eden I picked up British Columbia and in the Victorian High Country
I was listening to someone in WA and up in QLD then in Albury I found a German transmission but who knows where from.
Not sure if it's still available but if it is you can use rechargeables or a 6v adapter.
...Just looked it up at DSE only $150 - I paid about $300 a few years ago.
If you really do want a good radio
check this one out... what have you got to lose?
Cheers
David

yea dont worry about the power source am/fm radios run aloooong time on batteries so dont let that effect your choice
on another note i went looking for an am/fm radio cheap to listen to footy and cricket while camping and there wasnt much choice at all due to digital offerings taking over
i was however just looking Kmart big W etc

Have a Sangean ATS 803a which covers 150 - 29999kHz + fm.
Has a bfo which means you can listen to VKS and various amature frquencies (SSB) using an external antenna.
It compares very
well in performance to my Icom communications receiver, we use it in the 'van, 12v. connected with a DSE voltage changer (9v. to radio).
Very progammable, auto switch on/off etc.

Would it be worthwhile to consider a radio with digital (DAB+) capabilities as
well seeing as Oz is supposedly heading down that path?
We're looking for a radio for the camper ourselves and thought it might be a good idea. Most of the car radios don't seem to have a very good receiver stage these days.

ATM dig signals are limited to parts of capitals. Dunno what's planned or what the broadcast range of DAB is.
