Google maps tells me that
Perth to
Meekatharra via GNH is 773k and 8 hours and 26 minutes.
Is this time figure fairly accurate if going at the signed speeds?
Cheers,
Jason.

Reasonably accurate if you don't want to stop and have a look at stuff as you go past etc. Stop revive survive etc

Gday...
I gather you are not the friend of many ..............
The time given by Google for that distance means 90kph average. So get a calculator -
average 70kph = 11 hours
average 80kph = 9.6 hours
average 75kph = 10.3 hours
See it is easy - what do you usually average? Grab your calculator and wahooo - you will have the answer.
Cheers - happy travelling (and calculating)
John

G'day John
Yes it does come across rather harshly but I don't think the "Original" post author and people like him help themselves by not giving even the simplest acknoledgement to a reply the author is asking for. I am sure the bloke has lots of friends, possibly very much like himself.
Now take your concise reply ~ simply brilliant ~ but it took your time and effort, even though you may not see it as a monumental task.
Your calculations differ to my real time experience in travelling from point to point, especially if and when I do the trip from
Newman to
Perth, I must be doing something wrong, because it takes me close to three days ~ longer still when the "Wild Flowers" are in full bloom.

Hi John,
I didn't actually know google averages to 90km/h, thanks for bringing that to my attention, and yes, it is glaringly obvious once you look at it :)
Thanks.
Jason.

Gday...
Interestingly Google does not default to 90kph in its calculations. It provides a lower average kph if the roads it suggests are not major highways etc.
As others have also posted, the average kph is one thing - but the trip could take you three days no matter what you average or the 'hours of driving' .... it is good to also stop to smell the roses etc.
I certainly would not want to travel for 700km in any continuous unbroken stint - I believe the journey is more important than the destination.
Cheers and happy travelling
John

I remember the old days before "political correctness" was the vogue, a "blackfella was asked the question how long to get from
Meekatharra to
Port Hedland. Walking, maybe a week, running maybe 5 days, bicycle maybe three days, motor car maybe 10 hours, telephone ting-a-ling you there". It takes me the best part of a week to get to Kalgoorlie and then only if I hurry. Too much to see too little life left to worry about an hour or two ------- a week or two? This is life - not a dress rehearsal. Enjoy.

I cannot provide any information.
Without knowing how often you stop for meals or how long it takes to refuel or how many kms per
tank or whether or not you'll have a puncture, stop to take photos, go to the
toilet or if you'll get a good run through the lights leaving/entering
Perth and what speed you travel at the best guess i can give is 7.75 hrs travelling at 100kms.
