For the first time in years of 4wd holidays we are not sure where to head this coming Friday for one weeks r&r. We are on our own and were heading up to the High Country but due to all the rain and the forecast we are a bit hesitant. Not really in the mood for sloppy tracks and rainy weather. We thought of kinchega nat park near Broken Hill but apparently thats flooded and closed off. We are coming back good Friday so we only want to drive for two days and then relax somewhere before heading home again. We know that we can enjoy ourselves pretty much anywhere away from crowds but feel like being a bit fussy this time. Any ideas based on weather and/or location would be much appreciated. Cheers, Chris.

Well William,
I think we'd be a bit over the speed limit to get there in 2 days. We hope to do the Canning stock route in the next few years though. Enjoy all the sunshine!!! Chris.

Wyperfeld National Park in the Mallee?
Lovely camping and sandy tracks.

Yep we have been there and very pleasant. Sticking with the High Country anyway after pondering our options. Cheers.

Thats going to be a beautiful week - better than easter over the whole top of Victoria Chris .

A great project for that time is to circumnavigate Wyperfield Nat Park , theres more km's in there than crossing the Simpson.

Start with a camp near Otis well (NW Rainbow) , doing a big anticlockwise loop always turning right at each junction and you stay on sand tracks and end up at SnowDrift.

Thanks Robin. We did look at a few options and rang Omeo Nat. Parks and have decided to stick with plan A anyway [High Country]. We rang Kinchega Nat. Park and most of that is under water so we may as well stick to our favourite place of all and hope it's not too wet. We did Wyperfeld a few years back. Cheers.

Had similar issue couple of years back and locked in better weather by going in from top end via Corrong.

Magic day trip Melb to Mt Pinnabar to Melb - much better to do in a few days though with lots camping options.

The guy at Omeo wasn't too concerned about any heavy rainfalls so no more sooking and I had better get back to packing as we leave tomorrow. Mt Pinnibar is fantastic. By the way I am just curious as to whether you are male or female as Lindsay and I get mixed up because of our names I'm Chris[female] and Lindsay is the bloke. I read a lot of your posts and wasn't sure whether all that good advice is girl or boy!!! Cheers, Chris.

" I read a lot of your posts and wasn't sure whether all that good advice is girl or boy!!! "

What an opening , but my wife (Anne) often reads and contributes so I will steer clear of it.

We are just sending out invitations to a big party and had a discussion about which name goes first and we agreed it was boy name first , but I would have lost that discussion with Chris & Lindsay.

Have a lovely time and leave a couple of days of fine weather for us over easter.
