Just wondering if anyone has recently been through the High Country that could provide an update on track conditions and river levels. Heading off after easter with camper trailer in tow. No fixed itenary but was hoping to get from Thredbo across the Murray up to Davies Plain and then hopefully make it across the Alpine NP?

Just spoke to Omeo National park service thiis morning and they said it's a bit greasy but ok if you have recovery gear and are well set up for 4wd. I don't know how you would go with a campertrailer. It might be worth ringing them the day before you leave. Chris.

Hey,

I was up Pineapple Flat last weekend. Not too sure about the tracks across Thredbo. I did the circuit track, around the back of stirling, up to Lake Cobbler and up the top of the range to the north into Whitfield. A couple of tracks around here were closed - the water damage was pretty bad in parts. You can however get through or around if you take your time or chose alt route.

If you wanted to go around this area - I can reply if you wanted detailed info.

Cheers

I was just on the Parks Vic website and printed off their nominated track closures. One of them was King Hut to Circuit Rd via Speculation Tk and apparently closed up to the Melbourne Cup weekend of 2011???!

Not too sure how bad the damage was or still is but I may need to do some planning on the run by the sounds of it

Yeah - the reason that is closed is due to a tree across the track. If you hug the bank real tight you can get through. If you are running huge lift and 35's then no good. There is also some wash out damage.

The reason we went down there was to help out a couple of bikes - one had a collapsed wheel bearing and was trying to limp 20km out. Back wheel was really wobbly - amazed he got out.

I think the other track that is closed is burnt top track. There is a work around into the bush on this one - you will need a winch though.

cheers Deano

huge lift and 35's is what i am running so might steer clear

the only hugging I'll be able to do for the trip is the handbrake and the kids

PS not the handbrake in the centre console :-)
