I enjoy campfire cooking, especially after recently discovering cast iron
camp ovens. Would love to hear from other members about their experiences about campfire cooking with varying methods.
Recently I've made some wood gas stoves, which have been fun projects to do and they seem to work really
well. Has anybody else tried making their own cooking solutions for
camping? If interested you can see how to make these stoves here

Its a free site, nothing for sale, would like to know if anyone else has looked into alternative cooking methods whilst
camping.

G'day mate, nice site and thank you for a tip on how to
cook in a total fire ban situation/ fire
hazard area. I own a
camp oven which was bought and use first on
moreton island which i seasoned it on the day of first
cook. I dug a hole to put the
camp oven in. due to beign a ban on open fires and used heat beads. might make this so i can still use
camp oven and not worry about diggin holes to
cook with. sorry if not coherrant, being up all night with work.

I just made one of
these to use with my
camp oven.
The now famous Kelly Kampa Kooka. Simple, cheap, easy, and it works.

Hey Ruth,
Looks like I'm sprung. I was going to make up a set for Kathryn for mother's day!
That photo was sent to me by an older couple at our 4wd club.
Hope you enjoy your
Easter out on the sandhill behind the dump :-)
Cheers
Phil

I enjoy campfire cooking as
well, I use spun metal
camp ovens and pans because of the weight advantage, I suspend the pans, billy and oven on adjustable fire stix and can produce a good range of food, but still like to do the coals in the pit for bread and cakes.

Yes like the
camp oven shots.
I've only recently started using them and they are great.
I'm going to have to work on something to suspend them over a
camp fire.

All you need to suspend a campoven over the fire is a tripod which you can buy at
camping or outdoor shops.
