VMS 500S Map Upgrades

Hi,
I have a VMS 500S which I purchased about June last year.

Recently I have started to get a warning my maps are not up to date or the device and that I should go www.naviextras.com to upgrade my maps.

When I went to this site I was instructed to download a bit of software a toolkit.

I ahve done this and installed it and it recognizes my device and does have new maps for sale for Australia and other countries around the world.

Has any one used this facility to upgrade their VMS.

Richard

I have posted thread in

http://gpsoz.freeforums.org/vms-portable-f8.html

I will check out the other one as well
Unfortunately these threads are not very active.

I have also sent a request to GPSOZ.

The reason I posted as is because it is a great forum and very active with lots of people doing different things.

May be I have done a bit of over kill :)

I have done some hunting since and it does seem like this is the way to upgrade your maps but would like to hear from some one who has done it.

I have an in dash 7000 series. When I got some map upgrades eg Hema maps I just took the micro sim out of the VMS unit and did a normal file transfer on the computer and all went well.

Alan,
The SD card for the 500S has only the maps for Ozi, Mudmap and Memory map.

The other stuff is on the device but you can still access it from PC so could do as you say.

Thanks for the reply -
