Well Aussiedingo, after having had an 39l Engel and a 50L Waeco, I now have and love a National Luna 74l. You've started me.
Why? Where do I start.
-Stainless Steel inside and out.
-It's 2 fridges in one, a 34l and a 40l each with totally seperate doors, controls, temperature monitors and settings. So it's a fridge and a fridge, a fridge and a freezer, or 2 freezers. Even a fridge and spare storage when you are on small trips or coming
home.
-It has tons of insulation and uses about the same power as my Waeco 50l except when the ambient temp is very hot, then it uses a lot less less.
-It has an auto turbo mode. When the voltage is over 13V ( battery charging) it goes into turbo mode.
-You can set the temp by the degree and it stays there plus or minus 1 degree.
-It has a single BD35 with smarts, to cool both fridges at different temps.
-It is rugged as hell, it was developed for the red cross to transport blood in Africa.
There you go, 2 seperate fridges with the power demand of one. About the same space as an Engel 60. Only downsides are it is pretty heavy in kg and $.
I'd never go back to an Engel ( noisy, really lousy insulation, electrically noisy for radio and super expensive to repair ), or Waeco ( ok but not great insulation, everything else ok).
Beer and meat at 2 degrees, cheese etc and vege crap at 7 degrees - keeps me and the wife happy.
Love it.

Well my 8 year old 40l Engel is as reliable and faithful as my Border Collie and he loves me.
Have never experienced the noise or poor insulation issues you mention.
Run
mine on 1 and a bit and the temperature remains stable while the economy of battery supply is good.
The bigger the fridge, the more volts and amps you need to run it.
Bill.

That is sort of true, but only if the fridges have the same amount of thermal insulation and electricals.

Yes Greendog, that is exactly the point I made in my"Reply" below. With the Engel on the floor of the camper we were sleeping on top of it, and the floor resonated the Engel vibrations. Your fridge in the Paj back is on carpet or rubber and also you probably not sleeping in the car.
But it is probably not a good idea to tell an Engel owner that his fridge is less than perfect! LOL
