Polaris PID 3619 - Problems

Hi there - can anyone help.

We got one of these fitted to our 100 series a fortnight ago and it was missing the mapping, so the SD card had to be sent back to Sydney. We now have it back again and re-inserted the card but now have a blank white screen in navigation. I checked the SD card in my laptop & it seems to have data on it. Do we need to be installing it first. Of course it would have been too easy to send an instruction manual!! I can't even find one on the web. We also received a CD with Hemma Australia 4WD Raster Map Collection that we can't have success reading either.

Would appreciate any help please.

Cheers, Ian Gunn

Hi Ian,

I have the Polaris in my 200, not sure the exact model but yours is likely a later version as mine is mearly 3 years old now.

With the SD card inserted, allow say 10 seconds for everything to boot up and then press the NAV button. It should go straight to the nav program so I would guess something is up with yours.

Not sure why you didn't get a manual, mine came with one and it was very comprehensive, had the codes to enable bypassing of factory setttings etc... I would get in contact with Polaris and try to get hold of a manual - but good luck, i haven''t had much luck dealing with them :(

Cheers

Is this what you are looking for. Google " Polaris GPS Manuals"

Hi,

Does the unit have a reset switch at the top of the unit, an unlabeled little
hole?

If so try reseting the unit. Insert SD card if not in position. If so insert a small allen key etc into the hole and press reset button for around 4 seconds.

Remove allen key and unit should reboot.

See how you get on then. You should not have to re-install the card unless it
was replaced with a new one. If this was the case the unit will indicate maps have not been registered and ask for the activation code.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the tips. We have had some success after phoning Polaris, yet again!

Because we have no insrtuctions for anything we were told that we needed to follow the little cross bar around the grey screen - pressing on the centre of the cross with a small plastic stylus [found it in a plastic bag that came with the sd card] as it moved around. Very strange, but it worked.

We now have to sort the rest by trial & error I guess. We asked Polaris about a manual for the Oziexplorer & Rastar add ons and they said that there was no such thing available. We are in our 50's, reasonably computer literate & pretty much up to speed with technology but still need help - would hate to be an elderly person trying to sort it all out.

thanks, ian g
