Just put a 60 series five speed gear box in my hj47 diesel cruiser. No real dramers other than the 60 series box being longer ,therefor to fit it in it has to go in at angle once in position adjust the gear box jack to horozontal use some rod to gude it into to the bolt holes align the splines and bolt it. I also used an engine hoist through the cabin to support the gear box. However the Thomas winch gearbox activation mechanism is up against the body reinforceing member .Can you reverce the gear box and use the PTO on the other side of the gear box ,regards Stephen

In a word No.
Does your 47 have the same setup as the 60 for engine mounts and a crossmember under the gearbox or does it have mounts between the chassis and bellhousing?
To fit the pto you may have to change it all to the 60 setup and then move the gearbox & transfer as far to the drivers side as you can to get clearance.
The big problem is that the 47 chassis is narrower than the 60 chassis.

Thanks for your help Peter. The PTO output shaft is hitting against the top of the cross member by about 25mm.The winch gear box has a PTO out put shaft on both sides of the winch gear box (one side longer),so maybe I could reverce it ,wondering whether it would be possible to also reverce the gears in the winch gear box, regards Stephen.
