Hi Pop

What a fun car and not bad on some points - but all vehicles work well in some situations and few work well in all.

How do you think it would go trying to follow my car last week.

Hi Robin

Yeah the first time I saw the video I thought the bloody great thing was going to lie down on its side.
Swaying around that far off the ground might involve a good handful of motion sickness pills.
As far as following you I think it might just be able to step over that tree..lol

Cheers

Robin,
that old truck comes with it's own tree remover on the back.

Have a safe one.

Pop,
I remember driving a Scammell many years ago, can't remember what engine it had although I do remember the gearbox, it had a gate shift , you couldn't jump a few gears and had to go back through every gear. Only the Pommies could make something like that.

On the other side it looks like that old girl has a 6LW or 6LX engine which were a brilliant engine during their time.

Thanks for that.

Have a good one

Hi Rockape,

Apparently the originals came with a petrol Meadows and were later fitted with the Gardner (spelling?) engines you mentioned. As an aside the occasional hissing noises heard on the video came from the air assist power steering, and yeah I watched some other footage showing what that winch could pull.
And no, as much fun as it is to watch I don't harbour any burning ambition to own one.......lol...Like a Masserati sports car or an expensive call girl...nice to look at and fun to test ride but way to high maintenance for my blood.

Cheers

Pop and Nick,
Pop, I got a great laugh out of your reply and Nick the trawler guys would have stolen the engine before they could get it on the road.

i so want to build a rear drive system for my ute the same as that, single diff, walking beam, can still use the front cruiser stubs, disks assys ect and retaining some original cruiser parts .... surely it can not be that hard as it is in bigger scale in trucks and still made with air bag susp and rated as HD for off road apps, i have seen most avail 6x6 conversions at the moment and they are just simply far to many moving parts and look poor designs, just dont look right.
Oh well keep dreaming..

I remember them when doing my nashos in the 50s. The REME company next to us had a couple. I believe they were classified as a light aid recovery vehicle. Mad my Landrover look very small.
