Hi Macca, There have been a number of threads on this subject, with the latest being thread 83289 here.

Try doing a "Text Search" for "Wind Generator" for the others.

The general conclusion was that you need a lot of wind for a little battery charge.

there are larger models available; I recall Oatley Electronics sell a kit, and Jaycar as well. Would work well on the coast, otherwise you really need to get it above trees if it's going to work well inland.
One thing you need to consider is the safety issue; I saw one mounted ona pole on a bull bar, and if a kid climbed up on the bar, there could have been serious injury.

Try a yacht forum as they are very popular on boats. Some are very very noisey and might cause sleeping problems at night.
