Hi Greg
Raster map format won't run on a Garmin.
Garmin use vector maps unless something has changed.
To use hema maps you will need windows operating system.
With oziexplorer installed http://www.oziexplorer.com/ And the ce version for mobile units
Like a hema navigator or a pda/gps or a hacked navman.
You them just copy the maps to a suitable sd card and insert in the device and adjust a few settings for oziexplorer to read maps from the sd card.
some one else will more than likley chime in with better info than me.

Hi Nick
I'm not realy up to speed on the Garmin and google map stuff.
Flat out just trying to figure out oziexplorer.
I think google maps just works through the interweb?

If you decide that you want Garmin Topo Aus & NZ V3 it is available on microSD/SD card for $99.99 from a Garmin Canadian reseller on Ebay.
