radio interference

We run a Eng el fridge in the back of the Pajero wagon. When the fridge cuts in, a loud noise comes through the radio, making it impossible to continue listening to the radio. The problem stems from the fact that the Paj has the radio aerial embedded in the rear side window glass and the close proximity to the fridge causes the interference.
I can remember reading about this problem somewhere on a forum and the fix was to buy a $5 suppressor from Jaycar but can't find the thread again to get the details of the fix.
Hoping someone can assist with this as its most annoying.

Hi Jimbo

If the interference is via the aerial ,a suppressor will not solve it ,only repositioning the fridge may

If it is induced through the lines then a suppressor might,Jayco AA3060 connected across the pos & neg lines @ the fridge
You may find that connecting the frame of the Engel with a short cable to the vehicle metal frame may help [keep cable as short as possible

Absolutly correct!

All 4 Engels that we have owned had a bolt on the fridge chassis with a knurled nut - specifically to be used as a dedicated earth to the vehicle body for RF interference.

This would be a good place o start.

Jimbo

Try the earth strap as others have suggested (it's a freebie) and if that doesn't fix it, you are going to have to 'strap/fix/insert/attach' some RF Chokes to the power cable.
