toyota fj cruiser diesel?

from all the media reports i have read they all have said there wont be a diesel

but mark my words

the FJ is based on the prado platform so imho if sales weren't going well and the buyers were pressing for a diesel variant
it will only takes two shakes of a spanner to slot one into the chassis on the fj /prado based platform
me thinks down track it will arrive eventually here in aus with a diesel
we will have to wait and see??????

Toyota has no immediate plans for a diesel engine. At the media launch the Chief Engineer did say that it MAY happen but would depend on demand for the engine globally. As Europe evidently wants the FJ then that makes it a possibility but do not expect if for at least two years and perhaps longer

Ill be surprised if the FJ is around in a couple of years. After healthy sales in the US,they began to pile up in dealers yards and this was before the GFC.
The more cynical believe the RH and Euro versions are just a way of using up the massive stockpile of parts.
Some americans who owned them began to hate the rear suicide doors.
Some of the US models got bulges in the firewall(or was it the fenders) like Prados that have been driven hard over rough ground.

they have expensive parts , including nudge bars ,tow bars and are as ugly as a hat full of rats the dash is as unworkable as a jeep

While they may be based on the Prado underneath, really they are nothing more than a poser vehicle. No diesel option with them, so Toyota obviously aren't worried about the huge diesel market here in Aus. Yeah l know you can buy heaps of accessories etc., but most of these will be show pony vehicles getting around the suburbs, most likely with huge chrome rims on them. Did l mention it's ugly as a smashed crab. They are trying to reinvent the iconic 40 series, which will never be done. The FJ cruiser might ride smoother than a 40, but it's still lame.
