Great Central Road

Part of the "Outback Way", the Great Central Road is the main thoroughfare through Central Australia and links WA to NT. It is widely used by buses, trucks, 4WD and occasionally 2WD vehicles.

The Great Central Road is the main thoroughfare through Central Australia and links WA to NT. It is mostly unsealed but is widely used by buses, trucks, 4WD and occasionally 2WD vehicles.

Tjukayirla Roadhouse

Great Central Rd from
Laverton to Warburton has just opened to 4wd vehicles with care.
Worst spots are at Lake Throssel, 40 km's - 50km's from the Roadhouse (West) and also in spots 30 and 60 km's East towards Warburton.
There is still alot of water over the road with washouts, holes and slippery areas. Good news is we are having sunny days with a good breeze now, so that will help alot.

No worries at all, unfortunate that you all had the enforced stayover, but it was a pleasure to have such a great bunch of people here.
The road is drying up fast and should open to All vehicles again on Thursday hopefully.
