Hi All,
The mighty Patrol (04 GU)has developed a clunk in the front end, mainly when going over speed humps etc, like the ones in carparks etc, I have had a good look all over the front end and cant find a thing wrong, all bushes and so on seem fine, I am currently in
Albany in our around OZ trip, and should be in
Perth in about a weeks time.
Any recomendations would be appreciated
Cheers.....Browny
P.S. For what it's worth, to me it sort of sounds like a coil spring'clunk'like they are re seating sort of? It is not allways there, but most common when both springs are extended and contracted together?

Hi Browny,
I always used to use
Emerald Mechanical in
Joondalup when I lived in
Perth. They never let me down.
I still get tyres from them, but living 1600km away now, they dont much of my general servicing etc
I dont have any association other than being happy with their work.
Dan

G'day Browny - what area of
Perth are you in please?
I can recommend Allan Casey Unit 7 / 7 Fonts Place Morley Ph. 9377-2188 if you are in this area. Close to interesection of Walter Rd & Beechboro Road on the Bayswater / Bassendean border - on the way into town from the Swan Valley region.
Regards - Phil

G'day Phil,
I will be heading into
Perth from the South Phil, and at this stage I am thinking of staying at a
camp site from the Camps 5 book, about 20km to the East of
Perth Kalmunda?
Not sure where the Swan Valley is yet?
Cheers....Browny

Hi Browny
Robson Bros are closer to Kalamunda - straight down toward the city from Kalamunda and probably the best known 4x4 service centre south of the Swan River.
The Valley is toward the north from your
camp and
well worth a visit - sort of Margaret River area on a smaller scale and right on the door step of our fair city.
Promo out of the way - have a great stay.
Regards - Phil

As its a GU and
suspension orientated... I would recomend
Perth 4x4 in Balcatta. Or Malaga Spring Works &
Suspension. You will need to pre book as both can get very busy.
Cheers Craig

Browny,
Do you have a lift? As was mentioned, probably
suspension.
Mine developed a "clunk" as
well. Turned out to be the L/H front spring rotated on the
seat. Just jacked the car up on the chassis and rotated the spring back into position, no more clunk.

Thanks Rob,
Yes I should've mentioned, 2inch lift with Kings and Konis, I'm hoping, it is something simple like that,

Browny GU,
Depending on your location I would recommend Robson Bros in Welshpool.
No affiliation just a very happy long time customer.

Robson Brothers: excellent for all 4WD problems, maintenence, servicing, repairs, not cheap but totally reliable. Ask for Rob Robson himself.

Many years ago I used to use Robson Bros. But then moved over east, back now but will be using them when the time comes. I have also had that clunk from front and rear on various 4wd's and every time it has been the seating of the coil, so it could pay to
check that out first.
