Hi all
Have a 100 series auto with a scratched centre console. Thought it would be nice to replace it with the woodgrain finish. Quite expensive from Toyota (about $500). Anyone have any ideas on a cheaper version. Thanks in advance.

Rads,
Where do you live? If you're in WA, maybe David would make you one. He's makes all our furniture and I even have a ... jarrah lid and control console for my WASHING MACHINE LOL!! The old plastic one broke when we last moved, so my handy bloke make one. There is no reason, why a handy chippy couldn't make a customer solid wood console for your 100.ExplorOz

Don't keep all the good stuff in W.A. You could sell em thru the exploroz shop. How much for a console on my Hoover??

You could also consider going to SpotLight - they have heaps of decent vinyl upholstery fabrics. We have found the exact grey vinyl there used in the 80 series to match so when david made our roof console and modified our centre console to include the laptop mount etc it covered it all in the same vinyl. We padded it first with white padding used for quilting and then tightly stretch the vinyl over to fit and secured with staple gun. Looks just like the real thing. Maybe you could try to recover your console this way, if you can't work out the wood-grain option.ExplorOz

Hey if you like the fake wood look . you can buy the kit on ebay .. and have it shipped over here for a medium fee... When dooing your search click the "search worldwide" button.. and your search criteria would be "lancruiser" you may have to filter through 5 pages but the items are there

Great

Rads,

I know it's a strange hobby for a shiela but I've been woodworking since I was just a bit of a kid (kind of a luv affair with wood)...Not sure of the layout of the 100 series console but depending, have you considered simply covering the existing console with a wood veneer. You'd probably need to go to a specialist cabinet maker or timber suppliers to get the veneer but there is a huge range out there. Probably wouldn't need much either so you may even be able to score an offcut from a cabinet maker. Hardest part would be drawing up the pattern but you can muck about with some butchers paper until you get it right.

Hi Melissa
I've been told that there is a wood veneer style sticker kit to suit the model, but don't know where to find it. I think I'd probably bugger up a stencil doing it myself.

Rads,

You don't say what year the vehicle is. If it is a pre facelift 100# then it is not as expensive as you think. I can do you the genuine one for around the $200 depending on stock availability at the Factory. That would cover Dash Lit, Electric Window Kit & Trans console kit.
