Where would be recommended to leave our van in
Camooweal while we head to
Lawn Hill for a few days? Thanks, Ant

Hi Ant,
The road is a good dirt road to
Lawn Hill, If you go past
Camooweal towards MtIsa and take the sealed road on the left for around 60km then make your way to
Lawn Hill.
We took our Jayco last year with no problems.

if you are refering to what is known as the "Thorntonia" road, the one that goes to
Gregory pub it is shocking at the moment, mainly due to extended periods of rain it has washed the sand/soil out and left rocks only, there was a bad accident there 2 weeksa ago ......
They are working on it and doing a good job but it has left basically very loose
rock so i would not recommend towing anything just yet...
Yes we went on it last weekend, it was so bad we ended coming back
home the "long way" adding 2 hours to our trip ...
Cheers
Joe

Hi Ant
Contact the caravan park/s at
Camooweal to see if they have provision for storing caravans. I don't know what your rig is, but ring Adel's Grove Campground to check road conditions and consider taking your caravan. In August 2009 they advised us that the
Riversleigh Road was in good condition. The two river crossings were fast flowing but very shallow. We spent two or three days at Adel's Grove; there are no powered sites but they have a generator section.
