Got a 2011 D-max and now sorting it out, has any of the well travelled d-max owners had any trouble with stones etc hitting the fuel cooler, I dont know wether to make some sort of guard over it or leave it ( seems very exposed to me ) it will be going around the corner country in June.
Cheers

My rodeo has the same setup - It has been no real issue - Have not hit it to date.

Have buried it under the mud which led to fuel issues and a temporary engine shutdown to low revs :-)

All fixed when I got it out and washed some mud off.

I do have a 3" lift and 1" extra tyre height to get it away from the hazards though.

thanks mate just got it lifted today picked it up in the dark and its to bloody cold in the shed to measure it but seems to be more than 2" though. gota say it seems to ride better on the 20k's to home. I am a bit worried about the stones on the strzelecki though.
cheers

We have done the strzelecki a couple of times - Its a highway :-)

It seems exposed but also seems to miss all the bumps as well :-)

I have done the Maytown Old Coach Road without an issue, and that has some serious rock shelves.

This hill was also a very steep climb with rock shelves, wife could not take pictures on the way up, had to seriously hang on :-)

Warren,

Go to the google search engine, type in, Isuzu dunnings vents.

Have a look what that bloke did for a fuel cooler guard.

I have done the same myself, with a lot more peace of mind on rocky tracks.

Regards Nick

Thanks guys its a bit of a bugger starting from scratch again, sold my 1990 series 80 diesel 1HZ twin diff locks, lifted, suspension kit winch etc. had that car for 20years, the D-max is proving a challange the design engineers must still be laughing. that vent idea is easier than what i were going to do. dont have much time left need to get it sorted before 1st june, we are taking the camper to the corner country then across the plenty to alice. have you had any problem with, or needed to fit some sort of screen over the intercooler ?
Cheers warren

Would only think about that if you were driving through a lot of long grass - I have not had to do that to date

I've done the corner area, simpson, plenty etc in the colorado. It looks a bit exposed, but mine hasn't so much as a stone chip in it. Can't say the same for the rear skirt of the tub though - looks like a bag of marbles :).
