Hilux DC Canopy with Customised Tray

Hi guys,

I own a 1997 Dual Cab Hilux, and my Canopy is broken: the actual metal frame around the glass back window is bent at top right, which has snapped 3 rivets out of the metal hinge connecting the whole back part to the main body of the canopy.

Also, I want to customise the back tray so it has a floor risen up to about the top of the wheel arches, with drawers that come out the back underneath that floor, and on top of the floor have room for a removable mattress (self inflating), and then on top of all that have the canopy for weatherproof protection.

I was wondering:

1. is there anywhere on the Gold Coast, Queensland that I can get my canopy repaired.

2. Is it even worth repairing (maybe expensive, or i could DIY), or should I look at buying a better quality ARB one or something (even though the ARB website doesn't have canopies for 1997 hilux).

3. Has anyone here attempted DIY customising for campers/cabs in the past?
