Have used poly bushes for a number of years and have never had this problem.
Awhile back I had to put the old girl on the shaker and the DMT inspector said your
left hand front rear shackle bush is moving slightly, nothing to worry about and she passes with flying colours, as I am planning a big trip this winter I decided to replace all the bushes as they are only $57 for a complete set.
I replaced the rears first and found that bush on the LH side worn, don't know why it was different to the other side which was perfect.
I then did the fronts and found the right hand front lower bush had grabbed and torn out the end of the bush, both spring hangers in the front showed slight signs of wear marking.
I have always used greaseable shackles with high pressure lithium grease. I know things wear but this has got me stumped as the other bushes were fine.

Gday Rockape,
As luck would have it I replaced the ARB poly bushes on my rear leaf springs 2 weeks ago.
Both front bushes were elongated, and had movement. The rears were OK. But all the greasable shackle pins had blocked holes, so grease was only coming out of one of the 4 holes, so some of the bushes were not getting greased.
I put the original sleeved rubber bushes back in the front eyes and kept the greasable shackles at the back. I think the Toyota bushes are better. The poly bushes had done about 80,000k but there were some hard trips.
While I was at it I put new plastic bits through the ARB springs, and they make no noise now.
Cheers
Phil

Yes we discovered years ago that the poly bushes will wear the shackle pins out very quickly when they are not greased correctly. They also give a firmer ride.
After having to replace all the shackle pins on one cruiser after one three month trip when it was fitted with poly I went back to rubber.
Toyota rubber bushes typically last 100k in normal use so while they are expensive compared to after market ones they last much longer. I've completely trashed an aftermarket set in one 5k/3 week trip so went back to the Toyota ones.

Gday Peter,
The 79series has better bushes than the 75/60/40 series had. They have a steel sleeve so they move better than the poly bushes and last a lot longer. They look like this:

Phil,Peter and David,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
As suggested, I think I will go back to the old rubber bushes when these are worn.
Have a good one all,
RA.
