Planning to travel that road as part of a trip starting in late August. Am trying to find out the type of road and current condition of all surfaces for that stretch. Worked in that area many many moons ago, but havent travelled the whole road before. Can anyone help me please??? We will be in standard Commodore Stn Wagon towing a 15' on road poptop.

Yep, it's a good bitumen road all the way but it also has a fair few multi-trailer road trains at harvest times. They are usually at or about the speed limit with a fair bit of 3rd trailer sway as a result.

Just watch for them and slow down and give them as much room as you safely can.
Otherwise it's an easy drive.

All roads in country WA have potholes, it goes with the territory.

Hi Kevmac - phone the Shires that cover the road closer to your leaving time. If the story about potholes is right, they may well be fixed within the intervening months. Even if they haven't, you would handle them with your car and caravan by being alert and travelling slow in affected area.

Hi Kevmac, I did this trip 4 weeks ago, road condition is very good. As mentioned theres quite a few trucks at harvest time and there are plenty of roos at dawn/dusk. The police are pretty actiive out Lake King and Ravy way too!
