Went to hook the van onto the Nissan Patrol to make sure everything was going to
be ok.With van and trol being level etc
And low and behold the jockey wheel is stuffed, the insides are buggered
So down the Gawler Caravan Center and they had one left
Wow what a difference using the trailer-mate jack compared to the jockey wheel
is
Not cheap but you only get what you pay for these days

You can buy new roller bearings for the top of your jockey wheel for a few dollars.

We've got one too. I still think it was expensive, but hubby swears that it makes a huge difference. He's really happy with it.

I got one with my van when I bought it but have never used it. Are they that good and what do they do over a jockey wheel?

Cheers

Well for a starter they are hydraulic so you dont have to wind away.

They also have brackets that are probably already on the sides of your van so as to be able to jack it up
Can be used as a jockey wheel or a jack and are handy if you cant drop jockey wheel far enough on sloping sites or high enough if its the other way.

Just dont leave it on when travelling as they gradually leak down and smash to pieces.

My neighbour told me they were fine to travel with until it dropped and ripped the crossmember on the A frame completely off and bent the jack at a 45deg angle.

Solution Drill a hole in bottom plate and use a cable to hold it up.

Thanks Snoopyone for your feedback. It has been sitting in my cargo bay for 6 years unopened so I might give it a try.

A good suggestion of the cable.

Cheers,

Your van looks like a Jayco. The spot on Jayco chassis where the lifting brackets go requires a fair bit of modification to take them.

They are great.
I tow a small van sometimes solo.Makes set up easy and the very best part is when you have a flat tyre .Don't have to struggle to get a jack under axle-simply attach trailer mate and jack up in standing position.Very handy in traffic situations!
The best bit of equipment any lady caravanner can have.
Cheers,
