We are thinking of travelling this track in June July 2011 towing our Vista RV (off road crossover). It would just be my husband and me. Does anyone know if this is "doable" and have any current information about the track. We only have 3 weeks and will be travelling from Victoria. Any information would be appreciated. We were thinking of starting the Binns track from
Alice Springs.

Might be worth contacting National Parks, there has been a big wet and it might not be open yet, it is pretty tight going with some steep dropoffs into gullies and creeks so doing it as a lone vehicle towing might be a bit silly.

There is the odd harder to do thing when in NT but you should be fine if you truly are a driver.
Wheel placement etc,,, you just need to be a thinker....

A good source of info for tracks in that area is the Mt Dare Hotel website.
A link to their track info section -

You can always give them a ring if you want more info. If you do that make sure that you drop in and have a beer or a meal & meet who you were talking to in person. Much nicer that way.
By the way, it's not called the Binns Track any more. My daughter renamed it when we were isolated by flood water for a week in October last year....
