G'Day Tony,
Its worth a try...... do you know how many numbers are in the code???
Dealers often use the VIN number as the code for the radio, try using the first or last four numbers of the of the VIN.
Failing that it will probably mean the radio will have to come out & be set to the manufactures representitive to be 'unlocked'. It may be cheaper & easier to buy a new radio.
Hope this helps

Some dealers keep record sof the radio code, so maybe try the selling dealer.
I had a Toyota dealer remove the necessity for a code, was just a pita.

When I purchased my car the radio was locked. Took it into toyota and they removed the PIN, the cost was $35.

With my Ford, I went to the service desk with my VIN number and they where able to give me the necessary code.
Once i had the code and knew it was right, I wrote it in black texta on the sun visor for future reference

I made a mistake and left the caravan hooked up for what was supposed to be a 1/2 hour visit that turned into a 4 hour visit, came back to car battery dead flat, Racv came and jump
started the car, but radio had shut down, Had to go to a Mazda dealer, he put in a code about 3
miles long [ Ha Ha] did not charge me, but i thought it was ridiculous, to have such security on a standard supplied radio,as if you took it out to replace it with a better one, you would'nt get $10 for the old one.
Best of luck Rgs dazren

Hi Tony, I had a look at the VIN and also Engine number but there is absolutely no relationship to the 1464 code on the wife's radio.
None of the numbers on the outside of the radio (s/n etc) reflect the code either.
We have the Daihatsu radio out (in a box) because I replaced it with a Pioneer MP3 with Bluetooth.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - the owners handbook suggests the code is unique.

Hi Tony,
Walk into any car yard (except Diahatsu) and ask speak to a salesman regarding any car....just tell him/her you are browsing and ask for a business card. On that business card is a LMCT licence number. Call any Daihatsu dealer and tell them your name is (the salesman on the card) are calling from LMCT (again from the card) and you're just requiring the PIN code for VIN: (tell them the VIN of your wifes car) and they will give you the code over the phone. It will save you cash and you will get the PIN instantly without fuss.
Regards
Jason

Or just go in to the Daihatsu dealership and ask nicely.
Usually has worked for me with both Holden and Toyota.
Would be ok doing what you suggest till person says "will take minute will ring you back" LOL
