I've seen posts where people have iGo8 or Navman software on their PC.
Any one using something like this and where did you get it. I know I probably should just buy a cheap GPS to go with the PC, but I like to do things the hard way sometimes.

G'day Allfour4x4
I got one of these off EBAY 6 months ago , works and looks like a Garmin NUVI.

It is a GARMIN made programme.
Needs a basic GPS on USB eg a handheld or mouse type.

Geez, if you knew how much searching I've done for this!!
I thought Mobile PC was either extinct or not compatible with Win7....obviously not.
So what's it like for city auto routing? Are you happy with the supplied maps.

Yes , not sure about Win7 ,I use XP and Vista , no probs there except that each "purchase" will only work in one laptop.
City maps seem OK , we went to a funeral in Melbourne last month , could not fault route it chose .Every map has mistakes but this is no worse than any other , in my local area it shows a bridge that was removed 30 years ago as still open .
I would recomend it for city / highway and find better for bush.

We use Garmin Mobile PC with Topo maps, we got the software from Garmin to try when they got rid of Nroute.

Our laptop runs Windows 7.

The software is Nuvi based.

For general mapping we use Ozi Explorer with about 60 gig of maps.

A program that I am using is odyssey navigator. It is quite a good program and runs fine on my netbook, along with another mapping program (memory-map).

You can check it out here

Hi Allfour,

I use a Asus EeePC running Windows 7 loaded with Garmin MobilePC which i purchased as a bundle from GPS Oz. It came complete with GPS aerial, Mobile PC software and free update for the Aus maps. Works an absolutel charm. Only thing i would reccomend is if you get this, get the latest MobilePC update off the garmin web page.

Beauty! I think I'll buy that Epay - Mobile PC.
Going to use Trackranger for the remote stuff but really didn't want another device sitting around for city routing. Sounds like this will suit us perfectly.
