We are about to travel on the Plenty highway, in the next couple of days, and after that the Tanami track.
Two questions, Is the Plenty Highway OK for 4WD and 4WD camper trailer and is there fuel availbale at Rabbit Flat? If there is fuel available, is this every day or only on some days?

Rabbit Flat is closed so no fuel there. Fuel at Tilmouth Well, Yuendumu, Balgo and Billiluna. You will need to check with Central Land Council if permits are required except Tilmouth Well. www.clc.org.au . The Plenty is reported as "Caution between Stuart Hwy and Harts Range" and "High Clearance only between Harts Range and Qld border". Reason being slippery surface and washouts. Just take things easy and you should be OK. Note that Tobermorey is closed and no longer sells fuel or food and no camping. Fuel available at Gemtree, Harts Range and Jervois.
Hope this helps.

Scout if you are going in the next couple of days where are you leaving from?
We live in Alice so would like to catch up if it fits in with your plans.

Came across the Plenty about three weeks ago, towing the camper trailer (Patrol towing Aussie Swag). Beautiful road, better than than the Warrego Hwy Longreach-Brisbane. Average speed was about 90km/hr used 21litres/100 though. But that was more to do with my lead foot.
Fuel availiable at Jervois Stn and Gemtree and at a Community store about 80km east of Gemtree. Came across from Alice, the NT side was probably the dustiest this time. My in laws will be heading over the Plenty on Monday, to go to the Finke.

Cheers
