I want to buy a Sine wave generator I've been looking at the Honda i20 or the Genquip but I'm not sure if the genquip is as quite as the honda the spec say it is and TJM say they are good but then again they sale them. The honda is $1800 5 years and the genquip $1200 2 years what do people have and think.

Hi Geoff
I too was recently in the market for a new generator. After a bit of research i decided upon the Yamaha 2.4kva. It operates on sine wave and is in the lower decibel range. I wanted it so that i could run the a/c in our van. I spoke with a few people and reading on the net the honda's are apparently inclined to shut down at high ambient temps. That sold it for me, i live in the NW plus ive a mate who swears by his which he uses in the same application. I think i paid about 1900 8 months ago.

I used my Honda EU20i to run an aircon in my van in 45 deg ambient for a week in FNQ last year and it didn't shut down. The generator was on Eco mode but running continuously at full speed, so it was getting a work-out.
I've had no problems.
Cheers
Frank

I've just bought a Honda Eu20i I bought the Honda as I want it to be still running in 10 years time. I work in the auto industry and we import quite a bit from china, unfortunately the quality control is not always as good as it should be. You may save a bit in the short term but not to sure about the long term. Good luck with your decision.
