We are looking at getting a Pajero RX with a GPS screen display in the dash. The vehicle has a reversing camera which displays on the GPS screen in the dash.

We have a 20ft. van which we tow and this makes the camera on the back of the car useless. Ideally we would like to fit a wireless rear vision camera on the back of the van which displays on the GPS screen in the dash. If possible we would like to have a wireless receiver that plugs into the camera plug on the back of the car and don't want to have another display in the front of the vehicle.

Can anyone suggest a supplier that can advise us whether this will work and what bits we need.

Thanks

There have been a number of threads on this subject. Most users seem to have problems with wireless cameras. Type 'wireless camera' into the search box and have a read.

Here we go again.

A wireless camera is about as useful as you know what on a bull.

Why Because of all the metal between the camera and the receiver

I have tried about 5 different setups before settling on what I have now..

It is a 3 1/2 in screen ( you can use the GPS) and a mini camera on both the rear of the car and the van.

I you cant figure out how to get it from front to the back do this.

If your chassis ends are open run the wire through that If not buy a couple of lengths of 1/2 in polypipe and cable tie it to the inside of the chassis rail.
Run your wires through that.

What sort of connectors does your camera have. You would be better to run the van camera wire up into the car dash an have a switch box to change cameras.
Some GPS units already support 2 cameras maybe yours does Have a read of the manual My screen does. By a mini camera of this guy on EBAY

95soarer is his user name Have got 2 off him and hes Ok to deal with.

You dont need one with IR as how often do you traveol with the van at night.

Just remember that a camera IS NOT A SUSTITUTE for wide mirrors which are required a camrea is considered a drivers aid

Hi Turist,
Snoopyone is right, the wireless units are next to useless and certainly won't transmit from the rear of your van to the drivers area unless you have an amplifier for the signal. I had trouble getting a clear signal from the back of the cruiser.

When I hooked up my reverse cameras, one on the cruiser and one on the van, I used a good quality quad shield TV aerial cable and "F" connectors at each end with the suitable connectors screwed into them to convert to female RCA fittings at each end. I did this on both the car and van and it works very well.

I fitted one "F" connector and female RCA adapter to the rear bumper on the cruiser and used an "F" connector and male RCA adapter on the front end of the van and suitable cable length to connect to the car.

I can post a pic of the parts if you wish, so please advise if you want that.
Cheers, Bruce.

If your existing camera is a wired camera there is no reason why it should not work with the Pajero system. You may have to add a power cable for the camera, but would be surprised if the Pajero didnt have the power system organised.

As suggested have look on the Pajero forum. If you are referring to the factory fitted MMCS GPS you connection choices are very limited without modification. If you search that forum there was a guy who posted about a wireless camera and posted a wiring diagram to cut another camera circuit into the factory system. As mentioned above he found the wireless camera useless but his circuit modification would still work with a wired camera as well.
