G'day all, just thought i'd let you know Phil B and crew have been in a couple of times over the last couple of days, they've been up to Empress Spring having a look around, and are now heading up to Tjukayirla caves here.
They said the Rd to Empress Spring was in pretty bad condition and is pretty slow going.

Ah to be working hard at retirement lol! He's not one to let the dust settle too much is our Phil. Any idea when the grader is due up that way. They usually do a fantastic job on the access Road to Empress.

Cheers Mick

There were a couple of graders on GCR west of Tjukyirla on Thursday. Cant remember where exactly.

G'day Mick, the graders wanted to try and get up there on the next swing, but still weren't sure if they could or not. They have been out here recently, but are on thier week off at the moment.

Hi

Give Phil my regards, as you have me to blame for giving Phil the details on the caves.

We have not met you yet since to took over from Andrew and will drop in next time we are passing.

Cheers

Gidday

i see it was very wet in Laverton at the weekend --- 48mm over two days. Did it get as far east as you. I will be out there in a month on Anne Beadell to Neale Junction up the Connie Sue to Warburton then the Gunbarrel to Carnegie and Wiluna.

Can hardly wait

Seeing the dentist this week to check for loose fillings before we hit the corrugations !

Cheers

Rocco

G'day Rocco, we haven't got it yet, but we are expecting it by tomorrow.
we are already up to 585mm for the year, and things really are taking a long time to dry out, so not looking forward to more rain just yet .. lol

Phil, Dave and Roscoe just got back here after attempting the caves, with one vehicle getting bogged, so they didn't make it out there unfortunately.
It's still going to be another month or so before it dries out as is...

You guys have spies everywhere- where's a bloke supposed to hide out there?

Yep Tjukayirla Alan is correct - one of our crew lost forward momentum - no not me. A couple of maxtraks, a couple of joined snatch straps and a what felt like a few thousand shovel fulls of mud shifted and out she came.

We had a terrific trip and it was great to catch up with Alan and his wife (who had a new hairdo courtesy of a gas stove - she's okay). If you go thru there call in and have one of the burgers I saw a Truckie with one he had a huge grin on his face when I said 'Do you think you can finish it?'

Did lots of cross country travel probably near 300 kms, some through thirptomene and acacia burnt out country - gee i hate that stuff, especially thripto.

My puncture count was one tiny leak that had me hunting for three days to find it. Go the Good year Wrangler MTRs. Dave also has MTRs and had one puncture . Poor of old Roscoe he had Bridgies - and about 4 punctures in all - one totalled.

The scenery at Ernest Giles Range was terrific, this is real pristine country - but it rained two nights in a row - on the second night we had over 25 mm (I left a measuring jug out). It was good to see the dawn after a night of pulled pegs, tent collapse, water leaks and wind.

Now for the next trip - roll on 3 July 2011.

Cheers

Hi Alan,

Got a text message from Roscoe - they were chased by the rain all the way to Docker River.
