very old maps still in good condition, first editions of topographic maps of
Jamieson, Jacobs River & Mount kosciusko as well as many others, interesting

G'day Julie

Anything on Far North Queensland circa 60s and 70s? A long shot I know, and thanks for the offer.

Cheers

hi matt and julie

it would be a shame if you destroyed them i hope that some one comes forward and wants them

there is a lot of detail on old maps that you dont see on the newer ones
dont know what area you live in but suggest
you approach your local library to see if they are interested or maybe a historical/geographical societys

G'day Julie, if you have anything around the NSW-SA border area or the NSW Far West in general, I would be interested.
Some of my old maps go back to the 1880's.
cheers

Hi Dave

No nothing, the earliest date on the maps is 1976, not so old compared to
yours, but still trying to continue with the cleanout who knows what else
I can find.

Julie,

What year are the maps printed? My wife might be interested, as she sometimes needs to use old maps to look up places etc when doing voluntary work at the herbarium.

Hi Colin

The dates vary from 1976, what type of work does your wife do? sounds
very interesting.

Julie,

I'll check with my wife and see if the maps are any use.

She helps out with the fungi collection and records at the herbarium. Sometimes she goes through old records (the herbarium has specimens dating back to Cook's voyage), and modern maps don't always have the old town/location names on them. They have a very large map collection just for that purpose.

Hi Julie
First edition maps may be of interest to the National Library of Australia http://www.nla.gov.au/ as they are a depository for all items published in Australia. They may also be interested in some of the others.

Cheers, Kathie

Hi Julie
I love old maps.. but really..

"found some very old maps"
"the earliest date on the maps is 1976"

makes me feel ancient. I was making maps around this time.

Oh dear..

I have a pile of 1:250,000s covering much of northern SA and some NT from the 60s. Probably 50 plus maps.
The catch is they are in Adelaide and I am in Fiji for another year +, but if someone is interested it could happen later.

Cheers,
