I pulled the damaged vinyl awning off my 'van and in the process
the springs which retract the whole thing unwound !!! Can anyone tell me how many turns they need to restore the tension when I re-install them and do I turn them counter or clockwise ? It is a 12' wide Dometic A&E 8271003, I've looked without success on the internet.
Thanks in advance.

racinrob,
I have a 14' awning and had to do same thing. After a lot of searching I found instructions on the Dometic US site.
I had to wind
mine 7 times from memory. I will look and see I still have the instructions on my portable hard drive. If so, I will need an email addy to send them to you.
Cheers,
Cruiser

Hi Racinrob,
You would wind it in the same direction it would travel when unwinding the awning to tension it up.
Cheers, Bruce.

Have found the instructions I used. They may not be applicable to your awning but I am sure the principle will be the same.
Try this link to
see if its what you need and if so, its at the end of the document.
Cheers,
Cruiser
