Chris,

I found this on another Forum from about 12 months ago

"The lady at the information centre said she has been asked by many people and they have made lots of inquiries thru different channels and she has been told it was because someone died on the road and a teddy bear was left there and then someone else left one and so on.
It has not grown into what it is and there fore is not any longer really in relation to the person that died there but is just something that has grown like the garden gnome that travelled everywhere."

Cheers Kev

Gday Kev
I suppose that's a bit like the "pussy willow" at William Creek.

There is also the tea-tree out at the old restored mining village near Leonora. A tree with a stack of teapots adorning its branches. Gotta love the outback and its humour.

I also noticed that along the 90 mile road in W.A. you will find that there are trees with plastic bags hanging on them. I do not know what the significance is. But In the future they will probably be replaced with the Green bags.

The Stuffed Teddies / Toys are there for the tourists fearing "Drop Bears". Next time you travel that way there is also a "dunny hill" and a "tea cup tree" ( opposite to dunny hill).

To my knowledge, it has nothing to do with a death.

There are also a coupe of toys (which are newer) just before Leonora as well.
