Hello, guys can anyone please help me, just got a 2000 paj, manual.
I love it and my wife love's it the baby loves it, so why am I worried?
The gearbox when cold is very clunkie i get some crunch's in 1st and 2nd, after it warms up it gets better but still it just feels alittle bit like i just catch the teeth on the gears.
I feel the clutch could have abit more feel, but Iv been to guys at Mitsi
and they say it's fine, just to double check i took it to another and he said it was ok that's "NORMAL".
I just want to know if this box has a problem, and they just dont want to sort it.
I don't think this is down to driver error, so any help advise would a great help.
Many Thanks Noah's Dad
By the way it has full servise history, and has only done 59K

Most likely, it has gearbox oil thats a bit too thick, cheap or the wrong grade.

On Toyotas I find the Valvoline Duragear 75/85 semi-synthetic to stop the cold shift problem. The same grade is recommended for your Pajero.

ND, is it gradually getting worse? Sounds like the synchro on lower gears is wearing _I don't know the first thing about gear boxes :-) but have replaced a few as a youth (long time ago). My Pajeros were a bit snicky too I seem to remember. Try changing the fluid as suggested, but maybe just slow down your changes to avoid the snick. Otherwise get the synchro rings adjusted/replaced (remember - I know nothing) when it becomes intolerable.Bob

My 2003 model is like that in third gear, has done it from the day I drove it home. But doesn't always do it, sometimes it can be real smoth but every now and then I get a clunk going from 2nd to 3rd, as expected dealer says no problem. If I slow the change down a bit it never does it.
