I've got a scangauge fitted to my 2007 NS Pajero and it is a great device.
I don't use it for fuel consumption as it's fiddly to set up for that but it's great for me as I have it set up to read rpm, boost pressure, engine coolant temp and inlet air temp.
Towing the van it's interesting to see just how hard it works when towing uphill particularly inlet air temps when the intercooler can't keep up with the cooling and knowing it's time to back off as an increase in air inlet temps invariably leads to high EGT's at the same time.
My next gauge will be an EGT gauge so I can get some sort of correlation of rising inlet temps vs EGT temps.
Also an auto trans temp gauge would be nice, it's not available on the Scangauge with Pajero ECU measurements.
Regards Andrew.

I have a scan gauge now for a couple of years. They are great. I use it go monitor my fuel consumption and watch the temperatures.
Best part is I have set the scan gauge speed to a GPS for accuracy and find there is up to 10km difference to the car.
I also have a engine block temperature gauge and a turbo temperature gauge. Might sound a lot but with modern engines the parts are too expensive to replace if you
cook them. I can compare the car dash temp gauge (very inaccurate) with the scan gauge temp (what the on board computer is registering) and
the block temp gauge (very accurate sender bolted against
the block). Then I can watch the turbo temp for pulling hard up big hills with a load and know when to back off a bit.
On the scan gauge you can tell instantly you are heading into a wind or up a slight grade as the litres per Km instantly go up. Time to ease up a bit until you are over the
hill.

Follow up - the scan gauge is very discrete sits on top of the steering boss - 30mm high (you can put it where you like).
I have seen the other wifi one that sends to your ipod etc. Looks cool with graphic display of the sensors but if you are fiddling with an ipod/iphone while driving best way to attract unwanted attention and unwanted expense. If you had a cradle for your ipod/iphone it might be alright.
Cheers
