David,

Mate I'm currently in Broome, and that is the word around here at the moment, apparently the parts north of the Mitchell Plateau turn off are the worst.

Cheers.....Browny

Hi David,

Yes that is being said especially by the media but unless it rains again I personally will be surprised if it is that late even though it is VERY wet.
As to when, well that is anyone's guess as no one has yet been able to inspect it for damage so I suppose that it is possible that even as it starts to dry and can be looked at there may be some sections with so much damage as to be impassable till major repairs are done.
That said, in 26 years here I have never seen it stay closed that late even when it was not much more than a goat track way back when.
On the other side of the coin back then it was 'open' as soon as a 4 WD could get along it, now due to concern over being sued for vehicle or people damage none of the authorities are game to legally open dirt roads till repaired to almost being a highway.

cheers, Anne
