We are looking at purchasing a 'Carry me Camper' which is made in South Australia. Are there any owners of these campers who are travelling to
Brisbane, or within a couple of hours drive of
Brisbane, who we could meet to see one of these campers please? This would save us a trip to SA. Also are there any members who would like to share their thoughts on these types of campers please? We look forward to any feed back.

Hi Bob and Barb, we have a Trayon camper that is made in
Maroochydore. We settled on this as it is ideal for a couple and can be put up in 5 minutes. We travelled with my brother who has a CMC around Tas last year and while it is all personal preference, the Trayon was the one that won out when the weather got bad. The CMC had to have sidewalls attached, or the only other option was to sit up in the bed area, to escape the weather. The T rayon is designed with living space inside with access to seating, table, stove, fridge,
water, sink and storage areas without being exposed to the elements. It weighs in at 390 kg and we have ours on a Mazda BT50 Freestyle Cab.
Current cost around $28,000 which I know is a lot nore than the CMC but ours is three years old and is still worth what we paid for it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers and good luck,
Mike

Thanks for the info. We know about the Trayon but it is not quite what we are looking for at the moment.

Hi Bob and Barb - I recently purchased a second hand Carry Me Camper - number 99 in fact - which apparently is quite old - 10 years or so. It is what it is - basic, but very
well made - I have been particularly impressed by the build quality of the canvas and framework of the unit. The box itself is just a box. I have fitted
mine out myself with a few ply shelves and plastic drawers from k-mart - works for me. I had a look at the new ones at the recent caravan and
camping show, and they haven't changed much - the way the canvas is done adds greater flexibility that ours has. I was surprised at how big the space under the awning is.
Not sure about the comment about having to attach walls - they are standard, and roll-up, so they are just zipped down the corners.
They seem pretty indestructible so you might want to consider a second hand number if you can find one.
