My son & I went out to Yawal yesterday afternoon & walked (yes it was raining)to the mines/tunnels after most had left & it was good to see that the open tunnels had not changed since we were last there a few years ago & you could still walk thru the top tunnel to the open cut section & the bottom tunnel still had the tram tracks in place (years ago you could drive 4wd & walk 50mtrs now its a 2hr return walk)
Regards Vince

Hi Vince were you camping out there or just day trippin?
I have always wanted to go for a walk around that area, normally only there for a bit of bass fishing on Danjera
Cheers Michael

Micheal
No don't
camp there, it not how or what it used to be (it was left like a pig stye again on the western side of the creek)
It was just an afternoon drive & walk & came back via deans gap rd(track) to miss any hwy traffic, there was only one other car in the area when we left.
Micheal the lat/long for top tunnel entrance is 34*55'47S - 150*22'36E & elevation 135m, the bottom tunnel is just below & the open cut section is 34*55,53S - 150*22,32E & elevation is 156m the top of the ridge is about 200mtrs & you can look down into the open cut section
Hope this helps
regards Vince
