That would usually be the thing to do but the 2 80 Series both have the amazing multivalve turbo motor. Therin lies the problem. Cheers RobCairns Offroad Training & Tours

I like the sound of the 97 model 80 Series. Usually the better one being the last of a line.

Rob, depends totally on price but purely from a technical point of view I would go for the low km 24v TD 80 series before the 2000 model 1HZ (but I am biased). Reasons are multi valve engine, beefier gearbox, more common stud pattern to interchange with trailer wheels and others on the road. You will also be able to swap over some of your existing accessories.
How many km’s has your old girl done??
Cheers

Yes I have got a soft spot for the 80 Series. I am leaning toward the 97 with 220 k It is immaculate and I know the previous owner well. All 3 cara are virtually the same price. My old girl has done 327k and I will be pulling most of the accessories off before selling including the Ox winch. Or will sell as is if anyone is iterested. The 97 is already very well set up.
